Privacy Policy
Long Island Youth Mentoring will not sell, share, or rent your personal information to anyone. LIYM collects information from our donors at several different points on our website for LIYM's internal use only.
Donations
We request information from the donor on our donation form. Here a donor must provide contact information (like name and mailing address) and financial information (like credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for processing the donor's gift. If we have trouble processing a donation, this contact information is used to get in touch with the donor.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the donor's hard drive containing information about the donor. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Once the donor closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates.
Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track donor's movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Tell-A-Friend
If a donor elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask them for the friend's name and email address. LIYM will automatically send the friend an email inviting them to visit the site. The friend may request the removal of this information from our database.
Security
This website takes every precaution to protect our donors' information. When donors submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line. When our order form asks donors to enter a credit card number, that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. We take these matters very seriously.
While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'
Special Offers
Established donors will occasionally receive information about the ministry, special events, ministry needs and a notification that our latest newsletter is available.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on our Homepage so our donors are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we would notify donors by way of an email. Donors will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.
